Carmelo Anthony made it no secret that he will test free agency after the season, and it could also mean that his days with the New York Knicks are already numbered.

Anthony, who expected to win an NBA title when he demanded to be traded to the Knicks during his final days with the Denver Nuggets, is obviously losing patience this season as proven by his post-game rants on Monday after their 103-80 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

"The only thing that kind of bothers me: today we didn't even fight," Anthony said after their lopsided loss to the Nets.

The 29-year-old superstar previously said that he is open to signing a new contract with the Knicks next offseason, but the NY Daily News reported that the chances of Anthony leaving the Knicks are getting higher as their struggles continue.

According to the report, a majority of NBA players and coaches are convinced that the All-Star forward will indeed walk away next summer even if the Knicks can offer a contract that is almost $30 million higher than what other teams can put on the table.

"The general feeling among NBA players and coaches is that Anthony will walk, even if it means leaving $30 million on the table. LeBron James took less money to secure a championship future in Miami and Anthony has already been quoted this season as saying that James was "smart" to make such a move," the Daily News reported.

Sources added that the Knicks should make drastic moves before the February 20 deadline if they want to have at least a chance to retain Anthony after this season.

The Knicks are expected to be in the mix should the Boston Celtics decide to trade Rajon Rondo before the trade deadline, but it is unclear whether or not their tradable assets will be attractive enough to convince the Celtics to send their superstar point guard to The Big Apple.

Anthony has been a consistent force for the Knicks this season, averaging 26.1 points and 9.1 rebounds in 38 games.

In his last two games, the 11-year veteran averaged 26.0 points and 16.0 rebounds, but the Knicks are still out of the top eight in a weak Eastern Conference with their under .500 15-26 record.
