Juan Manuel Marquez is still 50-50 on whether or not he will end his illustrious boxing career or continue fighting, but in the event the Mexican decides to delay his looming retirement, the former champion already has a fight date in mind.

Marquez told BoxingScene that he and his family has yet to decide about his next career move, but the 40-year-old Mexican revealed that he is leaning towards making his return in May.

"In the event that I decide to continue my career, my next fight would be in May, so I could return to the gym in a week, to have a strong preparation, as I'm used to. I'm thinking about a fight in May," Marquez said. "I feel good, but the risks must also be measured, because this sport is one of the most difficult."

The former four-division champion made it no secret that Timothy Bradley is on top of his list for his next fight.

Marquez felt that he was robbed of a victory during his WBO welterweight title showdown with Bradley in October last year in a fight where Bradley scored a split-decision victory to keep his title.

However, the rematch with Bradley is now out of the picture for Marquez's self-proclaimed May bout, as recent reports suggested that the undefeated Bradley will face Manny Pacquiao in a rematch on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

With Bradley off his radar at least for the next four months, Marquez will have to settle with his "Plan B" of pursuing a fifth title in five different divisions.

Marquez recently said that if the fight with his American tormentor does not go through, he could target champions in other world boxing sanctioning bodies such as WBA welterweight titlist Marcos Maidana or IBF champion Shawn Porter.

"My career is all about challenges. Right now the challenge for my career is to get a fifth title. And if cannot get a fight for the title under the World Boxing Organization, there are others. I have to see the possibilities and if the opportunity opens - why not go get it," Marquez said.
