Apple iPhone 5c owners with a broken screen can finally have their phones repaired at Apple Stores.
As of Jan. 20, Apple retail stores are able to repair screens of the colorful iPhone 5c for $149.
The iPhone 5c screen repair service can also be done on the same day the phone is brought into the store. For previous iPhone screen repairs, Apple would ship the smartphone to an off-site location and then fix the screen for $229.
The $149 screen repair service is only for the iPhone 5c. Repair service for the iPhone 5s is not available yet and there's no word when if or when it might be offered.
As CNN Money noted, Apple's screen repair service for the iPhone 5c comes four months after the "budget" iPhone launched on Sept. 20. In comparison to the iPhone 5, Apple did not offer screen repairs until June 2013. The iPhone 5 launched on September 2012.
While Apple declined to comment, an Apple Store employee confirmed to CNN Money that screen repair was available for the iPhone 5c starting on Jan. 20.
The iPhone 5c's features are, for the most part, the same specifications as the discontinued iPhone 5, such as the 4-inch Retina Display with 1,136x640 resolution, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, 1080p HD video recording camera, to name a few. The most notable change for the iPhone 5c is the color options. The new smartphone is available in blue, green, pink, white and yellow models.
In regards to prices, the 16GB model costs $99 and $199 for the 32GB variant if the consumer signs a two-year contract with AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon Wireless. Apple's official website is also offering the 16GB iPhone 5c unlocked and contract free, via T-Mobile or SIM-free, for $549. The 32GB model will cost $649.
