Apple Inc.'s sixth-generation iPhone could see a summer release date this year, according to reports from China.
Tencent reported the iPhone 6 is likely to sport a 4.7-inch display, which is an increase of 0.7 inches from the 4-inch Apple smartphones on sale since the iPhone 5 was released in 2012.
Despite the 4.7-inch display, the iPhone 6 reportedly maintains the same 1,280x720 resolution Retina Display. Apple has used the same Retina Display - 1136 x 640 resolution - since the iPhone 5, which is also currently featured on the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s.
The report from China noted the iPhone 6 could start production as early as May, with a release date in the following months.
A second Apple smartphone is likely to receive an improved resolution specification. The report noted a 5.7-inch iPhone could have 1,920x1,080 resolution, or Full HD.
In regards to the sixth-generation iPhone's camera features, the rear-facing camera allegedly will maintain the 8 megapixels with optical image stabilization. Apple has utilized the 8-megapixel rear-facing camera for the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5s as well.
As Latino Post reported, DisplaySearch projected the iPhone 6 would also receive a screen size increase. DisplaySearch stated one of two possibilities might occur for the sixth-generation Apple smartphone. The first is a 4.7-inch screen iPhone 6 with 1,600x900 resolution at 386 pixels per inch (ppi), while the second option is a 5.5-inch model with 1,920x1,090 resolution at 401ppi.
Chinese analyst Sun Chyang Xu reported that the iPhone 6 could see a June launch, which coincides with Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWWDC.
