Diablo 3 has been a big hit, selling millions on every platform the title has appeared on. Many fans are eager to start playing the game's first expansion, Reaper of Souls, and lucky for us, according to developer Blizzard, users can begin pre-downloading the expansion pack now so when it is released you won't need to download all of the content at once.

Blizzard announced the news on Battle.net, revealing that fans will have the option to download some of the files for Reaper of Souls now to reduce the amount of time needed for downloading the content when Reaper of Souls is officially released on March 25. Blizzard explained several details about the pre-download offer, including how much space the content will use and what requirements are needed to take advantage of this offer.

"The download will be around 6GB in size and include things like models, textures, art files, and other upcoming content in patch 2.0.1 and Reaper of Souls that is already complete. By making this data available early, you'll have less to download once the pre-expansion patch and expansion are released. The background download data is encrypted and won't make any changes to the live game or Battle.net service until patch 2.0.1 and Reaper of Souls launch. In the meantime, you will be able play Diablo III as normal, and your in-game experience should remain unaffected by the download itself. In order for the background download to begin, Diablo III must be installed on your computer and patched up to the latest build. Please note that you will be eligible for the background download even if you have not prepurchased Reaper of Souls," wrote Blizzard, according to Battle.net. 

PC players of Diablo 3 should definitely use this offer as fans who will want to play the new content as soon as it is available can avoid spending large amounts of time waiting for the game to download later, which can be incredibly frustrating. This offer appears to only be available for the PC version of the game. It is unconfirmed if the expansion pack will come to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. However, the Reaper of Souls content will come to the PlayStation 4 version of the game when Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition comes out. The PlayStation 4 version of the game does not have a release date yet.
