Salma Hayek is emotional and outraged at how her pet dog died. On Instagram, she revealed that the dog was fatally shot a week ago at her Washington ranch.

The actress took to her Instagram account to share her grief, saying this was why she was inactive for a length of time on her social media account. "I haven't posted for a week as [I've] been mourning the death of my dog, Mozart who I personally delivered out of his mother's womb," she wrote Friday, with a photo of Mozart. "He was found dead in my ranch last Friday with a shot close to his heart."

I haven't posted for a week as I been mourning the death of my dog, Mozart who I personally delivered out of his mother's womb. He was found dead in my ranch last Friday with a shot close to his heart. I am hoping that the Washington State authorities do justice to this wonderful dog whom in 9 years never bit or attacked anyone. He loved his territory and never strayed away...he was the most loving and loyal companion. He didn't deserve a slow and painful death. #muerte #perro #justiciaporlosanimales

She also wants the authorities to pay attention to the tragedy and give Mozart the justice he deserves. She added that for nearly a decade, the dog did not harm any human being. Mozart always knew where to stay and he never strayed, so he should have never met such a tragic fate.

Hayek is a known staunch animal rights supporter and lover, who occasionally speaks of her pets during interviews. On her appearance with  "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," she revealed that she has nine pet dogs. She also told Ellen Degeneres once that she also has several horses, alpacas and parrots. Added to that, she has a pet fish and a cat.

Her Instagram followers would know how much of an animal lover she is. Ever since she created her account last year, she almost immediately filled it up with posts of her personal life, including the fun she has with her pets. She usually shares moments of her personal life that seem very far from her sophisticated image as a Hollywood actress.

She has one featuring a short clip of her hugging Cinnamon, an alpaca that was born in her "animal sanctuary." She even has one of her cooing and singing to her hens when she was getting eggs from them, saying thank you for her breakfast. She also has pictures of her in bed with several of her parrots and two dogs. Mail Online UK reported that she has around 50 pets.
