One of the strangest and most bizarre games heading to gamers in 2014 is Octodad: Dadliest Catch. This game puts players in the role of an anthropomorphic octopus in a variety of different situations, and now the PC version of the game now has a release date set for Jan. 30.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch will be available on Steam and other digital distribution platforms on PC, Mac and Linux on Jan. 30, but developer Young Horses told IGN that the PlayStation 4 version of the game will not be available until March 2014. To hold over fans until then, the developer has released a new trailer for the game showing off how Octodad will look on the PlayStation 4.
The trailer begins by showing Octodad's family excited about a trip to the aquarium, before the title hero of the game is shown. Gameplay footage shows Octodad flailing around wildly in various environments. Tasks around the house become much harder as an invertebrate, and Octodad is shown stretching his limbs spastically trying to control objects and staggering around as he attempts to maneuver around tables and other objects. This is all part of the game's oddball appeal, as much of the environmental objects can be interacted with, cause the player to cause a scene wherever Octodad goes. Chairs will go flying, grocery store displays will be demolished, and aquariums will shatter as players make their way around the game.

Despite the wacky nature of the gameplay of Octodad: Dadliest Catch, there is a surprisingly touching story attached to the game. Part of the trailer shows Octodad struggling with human society with the help of his family, as well as Octodad trying to avoid a crazed chef bent on cooking up Octodad. Octodad's family will also have to deal with their strange patriarch as he communicates in octopus language and deals with offensive displays like massive aquariums and the fish counter at the grocery store.

The game looks great, and even though the Octodad art style may not lend itself well to the graphical power of the PlayStation 4, the charm of the game shines throughout the trailer. Instead of just creating a game that makes little sense, Young Horses have made a memorable game that sticks with players much like an octopus' tentacle.
Look out for more news about Octodad: Dadliest Catch has the game is released first on PC, Mac, and Linux before coming to the PlayStation 4.
