Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed how she consciously uncoupled with her "brother" Chris Martin.
The 43-year-old actress, who is currently dating "Glee" co-creator Brad Falchuk, told Glamour magazine that she and her ex-husband still spend a lot of time together, including sleepovers at each other's homes.
"We spend a lot of time together," Paltrow shared, as quoted by Glamour. "He's been away for two weeks [promoting his album]. Last night he got in at midnight and slept here so he could surprise the kids in the morning, we could all have breakfast, and he could take them to school. So... we're not living together, but he's more than welcome to be with us whenever he wants. And vice versa: I sleep in his house in Malibu a lot with the kids. We'll have a weekend all together; holidays, we're together. We're still very much a family, even though we don't have a romantic relationship. He's like my brother."
Paltrow said that this kind of arrangement between her and the "Coldplay" lead singer is for the sake of their two children: Apple, 11, and Moses, 9.
"Well, if you have children together, number one is a dedication to what's best for the kids. We put a lot of thought into how to do it so that the damage would be minimized," the "Mortdecai" star told Glamour.
Paltrow also said that Martin, 38, is "a great ex-husband" in the sense that he is a "very willing partner" when it comes to maintaining their family's closeness even though they can't stay married anymore, the magazine noted.
She continued, "We're constantly putting aside our own stuff and trying to reimagine something that we don't personally have an example for."
The ex-couple announced the end of their 10-year marriage in March 2014, with Martin taking the blame for all of it. According to NY Daily News, the musician's own demons and personal issues ruined his marriage with Paltrow.
Since then, Martin has been linked with actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Annabelle Wallis, Star Pulse wrote.
Paltrow and Martin's current amicable relationship was also evident in Coldplay's latest album, "A Head Full of Dreams." In it, the actress provided some vocals on a song titled "Everglow," which is a "ballad about a relationship's enduring spark," according to a report from Vulture.
In her interview with Glamour magazine, the Hollywood star said that the track was inspired from the time when her father, Bruce Paltrow, died in 2002. Paltrow said that she was traumatized and heartbroken by her dad's death, and Martin used the concept as inspiration.
