Huawei is getting a jumpstart on ending January 2016 with a bang by releasing a smartphone guaranteed to not break the bank. The Chinese brand is set to make big gains worldwide in the smartphone market.

According to Tech Times, Huawei has most recently released its latest budget smartphone offering, the Honor Holly 2 Plus. The 5-inch beauty promises to deliver top-tier specs that will not hurt one's pocket. Many smartphone companies are banking upon its budget smartphone lines, taking note of the discerning consumer who desires good specs at an affordable price.

The Honor Holly 2 Plus is a strong contender in the smartphone market, boasting of 4G connectivity running on a 64-bit MediaTek MT6735P SoC. The pocket sized dynamo is a step up from the original Honor Holly, a budget phone with sweet specs, but poor battery life.

GSM Arena reports that the Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus comes in with an improved battery life, thanks to a massive 4000mAh battery. This is an impressive feat considering the phone's size. Design and buildwise, the phone has a plastic build, which is a minor upgrade from its predecessor, although not by much. The phone has a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front facing camera. Both cameras are said to take great pictures showing plenty of detail and colors.

Thanks to the Huawei Honor Holly 2's MediaTek MT6735 chipset, smooth transition is to be expected. The Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop fresh out of the box, and comes packed with Huawei custom EMUI 3.1 skinning. With its 1280×720 pixels display resolution, playing games on the smartphone will be a treat. They will also run smoothly.

Audio is also good on the smartphone, which is a known issue on budget smartphones. Making calls should not be a problem, and listening to music should be a breeze.

This pocket sized dynamo is certainly worth checking out, especially for those looking for a phone upgrade, but don't want to shell out for the flagship price. Huawei has banked on its succes from last year and intends to continue with that success.

While Apple and Samsung were the leading smartphone companies in 2015, Huawei became the first Chinese company to sell 100 million smartphone units annually. The company owed its success to a surge in sales in China and in Western Europe.

The Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus comes at a retail price of $145.
