While Nintendo has announced many new playable characters for Super Smash Bros. 4 in recent months, the company behind one of the biggest games of 2014 has remained fairly quiet about some of the nonplayable characters that will appear in the game. But that all changes today. A new character in the form of an assist trophy has appeared that may hint at another playable character being confirmed for the game soon.

Ashley from the WarioWare series of games has been confirmed for Super Smash Bros. 4 via the newest daily update on the game's official website. The character is shown posing in the middle of a stage, so it is unclear what sort of effect Ashley will have on the gameplay of matches. Considering she is from the manic WarioWare series, however, Ashley may cause a suitable amount of carnage when she is released during a match.

With the inclusion of Ashley, it seems as though Nintendo is hinting that Wario will once again be a part of the Super Smash Bros. series. While the character has not been confirmed yet for the game, the character appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. With characters from his spinoff series now part of the game, it would not be surprising for Wario to be one of the next characters confirmed for Super Smash Bros. 4.

While Nintendo has confirmed over 20 playable characters for Super Smash Bros. 4 so far, assist trophies have received far less attention. The biggest assist trophy that Nintendo announced for the game was Skull Kid, the character from the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

Super Smash Bros. 4 will be available on the Wii U and 3DS, and Nintendo has stated that the game will be available sometime in 2014. However, the company has not narrowed down a launch window for the game, meaning that it could be many months until we find out when the game will become available. Both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game will feature the same characters; the stages will be different for each platform to reflect the games found on the systems. The Wii U will have console-themed stages, and the 3DS will have mobile-themed stages.
