Marvel anti-hero, Deadpool, has a romantic side and he is out to show it come Valentine's Day. The new "Deadpool" images show Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) locked in an intimate moment with love interest Vanessa (Morena Baccarin).
In a report with Comicbook.com, the mercenary with a crude sense of humor will be romancing his lady love in the clip for the upcoming "Deadpool" film. The anti-hero of the film delivers a proposal for Vanessa in the first ever clip for the standalone movie about the "merc with a mouth." From the looks of it, the upcoming superhero film may very well be the most offensive superhero film to date. Reynolds has been known to play smart-mouthed characters in the past, making him ideal for the role.
According to Slash Film, while fans were expecting the first clip for the rated-R film to be heavy on firearms, weaponry and have tons of bloodshed, audiences were shown Wade Wilson's unusual proposal involving a ring pop, which also teases a glimpse of Reynold's bare posterior, albeit a pixelated one.
The shown scene is a short and sweet one, which sets a rather unusual tone for the rest of the movie. The rest of the film has an R-rating, as the "Deadpool" movie is going to be heavy with scenes of blood and gore. Both Reynolds and Baccarin have enough chemistry to keep the audience engaged in their brief romantic scene together.
Slash Film also teases that the clip takes place in the earlier part of the film. Wade Wilson will find himself stricken with cancer, so he is forced to subject himself to a series of grotesque human experimentations that would allow him to be healed. Instead, he is transformed into a hideously deformed human being, with the ability to regenerate and heal himself. Wilson is also out for revenge for the man who nearly destroyed his life.
It is teased that Wilson may break up with Vanessa upon finding out that he has cancer, leaving her heartbroken. "Deadpool" also has some unfinished business to take care of, now that he is disfigured and left with a heart for revenge.
"Deadpool" is often seen as an uncoventional "superhero" story as the anti-hero has no ties with anyone. Earlier, Reynolds teased that he offers a more "authentic" feel to his character, with his crude form of humor and all.
"Deadpool" hits theaters everywhere on Feb. 12. 2016.
