"Wonder Woman" and "Justice League Part 1" are just some of the highly anticipated DC Comics superhero movies. In a recent development, Warner Bros. has announced the scheduled release dates for both films.
In a report with The Verge, Warner Bros. hopes to make the DC Comics Cinematic Universe much like that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where all the films are in interconnected. Warner Bros. has already started laying down the entire DC Comics Universe with the gritty 2013 "Superman" reboot "Man of Steel."
This year, Warner Bros. hopes to give Marvel a run for their money with the release of "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" in March 25 of this year, followed by "Suicide Squad" which is set to hit theaters on August 5. Both films have been highly hyped by the studio since news of their release.
The recent announcement by the studio came after earlier speculation. Warner Bros. has set its official release dates for both superhero films. "Wonder Woman," starring Gal Gadot, will be released on June 23, 2017, while "Justice League Part One" will be released on November 17 of the same year.
According to the report, "Wonder Woman" is said to be the only film with that exact release date, while "Justice League" will face competition against Universal Studio's "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
The "Wonder Woman" standalone film released footage showing the first glimpse of the Amazonian superheroine. Gal Gadot, who plays the titular superheroine, said in a report with Entertainment Weekly that the film will show Diana Prince, the daughter of Queen Hippolyta, "come of age" and learn her life's mission.
The footage, which was released during Tuesday evening's "DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League" special on The CW, also showed Wonder Woman fighting some unknown foes in her traditional war gear. The setting of the film will be during World War I, and will see Wonder Woman as an alien in a "Man's World."
The said footage also teases Wonder Woman's role as both a leader and hero, a theme which will be highlighted in the course of the film. Wonder Woman will be making her first cinematic debut in "Dawn of Justice."
Several DC heroes will reportedly be making appearances in "Justice League." Gadot will be reprising her role in "Justice League Part One," which will also see Ben Affleck reprise his role as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, and Jason Mamoa as Aquaman. Ray Fisher will be cast as Cyborg, and Ezra Miller will debut as The Flash. Zack Snyder will also be back in the director's chair.
