Renowned video game developer Hideo Kojima is going on a worldwide excursion with PlayStation 4's lead architect Mark Cerny. They intend to scour the globe in search of the newest technological advancements.

The duo will be traveling together for the next 10 days. Kojima Productions producer Ken-ichiro Imaizumi broke the news on social media on Tuesday. However, he did not reveal any further details regarding the exact purpose of the tour.

Imaizumi did mention that Kojima and Cerny will be heavily tweeting about the trip. Fans will surely learn more details as the days go by. For the time being, the uncertainty has kindled a handful of assumptions online.

GamesRadar noted that the trip could be related to Kojima's upcoming PS4 game. The 52-year old Tokyo native is no stranger to ingenuity and originality. The duo could be looking for fresh software or hardware that can be integrated into the new game as well as future titles.

After a bitter and highly-publicized split from Konami in December 2015, Kojima quickly formed his new studio called Kojima Productions, named after his subsidiary studio at Konami. He was joined by producer Kenichiro Imaizumi and former Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa.

Kojima told IGN last month that the studio has yet to decide on what game engine to use. He also said the company's first major title will release first on PS4 before arriving on PC.

"I want to create something that's what people expect, but at the same time will have something new that people haven't seen before," Kojima explained.

Aware of the disruptive nature of game DLCs, he added that the title will release as a complete game.

Kojima also hinted the studio might consider producing live-action movies and animated films. Taking a cue from Blizzard Entertainment and Ubisoft, he said developing high-quality games is the company's top priority.

"The focus is on digital content," he clarified. "Once we have an established IP in games, something solid that satisfies people, then we can consider movies and videos."

Unchained from the bureaucratic corporation that was Konami, Kojima Productions is now an independent, albeit smaller, video game studio. This will undoubtedly work to Kojima's advantage, since he now has free reign to decide what type of games to make and how to make them.

"We'll have more agility," Kojima proudly declared. "We'll be able to do things that are more edgy, preserving the quality we've had so far, while at the same time finding new challenges and exploring new areas."
