With the debut of the 16th edition of Big Brother Brazil on TV Globo, show host Pedro Bial has defended the show, saying it maintains its goal of presenting reality.
Bial told Diário Catarinens that another edition of Big Brother in the country has been a challenge for the production team.
He explained that people can expect a repetition of things, since they have been doing the show for a decade and six years already.
Bial also noted that even though they work on a repeated formula for every edition, they still bring in the real lives of different people.
"People bring their singularities, even try to hide them. You will also learn to make television a better way, try new formulas. That's it," the show presenter said.
He added in the Diário Catarinens report that this year they paid close attention to searching for the cast for the new season.
"Thousands of interviews were conducted. This search was very thorough," Bial noted, adding that this is part of their effort to bring something new to the show.
Correio detailed that the 16 cast members of the new BBB instalment are Adelia, Alan, Ana Paula, Daniel, Harumi, Juliana, Laércio, Maria Claudia, Munik, Renan, Ronan and Tamiel.
It claimed that these individuals, aged 19 to 64 years old, will be living in a remoleded BBB house. The house remains equipped with more than 70 cameras to monitor the movements of the cast.
The winner of the show or the last to get booted out of the house after three months, will receive a prize of $1.5 million. The second placer will get $150,000, while the third placer will receive $50,000.
Bial said the cast selection took diversity into consideration.
"Regardless of age, what is being sought are people who have a history of rich life that bring repertoire content. I think it appeared in BBB15 and will consolidate this year, " Bial told Correio.
As per Confira, other changes in the show are the group challenges and stages, which will test the cast members' agility, luck and logical reasoning.
The grouping among the show's cast is expected to put the unity of the team members to the test.
In a similar Parana report, the BBB host also explained that a lot of people want to watch their show to "escape reality," but he noted that nobody can do that, since the lives of the cast are also real.
