Photos of Samsung's new wearable activity-tracking device "Triathlon" shows an impeccable resemblance to the Korean company's smart watch, Gear S2.

Two months ago, Sam Mobile reported about Samsung's plan to release a watch-like gadget with a round face that allows users to track their physical activities on-demand.

Internally known as "Triathlon," the SM-R150 is rumored to have the same set of features as that of Xiaomi's Mi Band.

Now, an update from the outlet revealed photos showing the Triathlon with a very close resemblance to the Gear S2, from leaker Tizen Café.

"The SM-R150 appears to be equipped with the same circular display and rotatable bezel that we've seen on the Gear S2. The whole design of the activity tracker is close the Sport variant of the Gear S2," the outlet explained.

See for yourself.

According to Techno Buffalo, the device may be unveiled during the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February.

However, the outlet pointed out that the leaked images are quite confusing, since some of the images show a Gear S2-like gadget, while another reveals what appears to be a circular device attached to a person's chest.

The second unit -- presumably an accessory to the device -- does not have a display, and bears close resemblance to the simpler Misfit fitness tracker.

While it may look similar, Sam Mobile explained that the SM-R150 is very different from the Gear S2, since it is being developed particularly for tracking fitness progress and physical activity.

Proof of this is in the heart-rate sensor, which can be attached to the user's chest using some kind of accessory.

Other features that are incorporated in this new device include body fat measurement, a repetitions counter for workouts, and a sort of tracker of the user's water intake.

Furthermore, Sam Mobile believes that since it is expected to be focused on fitness and physical activity, the Triathlon would most likely be priced much lower than the Gear S2.

Sam Mobile believes that the new wearable device from Samsung is based on their Bio Processor chipset, used in the prototype called "S-Patch," which was featured during the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show.

The outlet further believes that Samsung should be able to take on a bigger market share in this area if they provide a much affordable gadget option for wellness buffs, especially to those who cannot afford Fitbit Pulse or the Garmin Forerunner 225.
