It was a fantastic 6-0 win for FC Barcelona on Sunday when they faced Athletic Bilbao at their home court in Camp Nou highlighted by great plays from Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

Super Esportes reported that Messi, who made the first goal of the match, was welcomed by the crowd with a loud applause after winning his fifth Ballon d'Or achievement in Zurich, Switzerland.

According to the official website of FC Barcelona, some of the player's fans brought a giant flag bearing the text "Congratulations Messi."

Prior to the beginning of the game, the forward showed off his trophy to screaming fans at Camp Nou.

The celebration continued as the game began with the great gameplay of Barcelona.

It was noted in an ESPN FC report that Suarez made a hat trick, in addition to the goals of Messi, Neymar and Ivan Rakitic.

Their visitor-opponents were also not able to give their best during the game, as they became exhausted and not able to keep up with Barcelona's passing early on.

FC Barcelona's dominance was undeniable during the entire game, where their attack frontline became very efficient.

In addition, SB Nation said the Catalans enjoyed a 2-0 lead during half time, where Messi had to take a break and was replaced by Arda Turan. Barcelona continued their goal scoring with Suarez and Neymar's efforts to get the ball in.

Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javier Eraso had a few chances to score during the game, but he always ended up missing.

According to Fox Sports, however, there were also game issues during Sunday's match. Bilbao goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz was dismissed for taking down Suarez when the latter attempted his first attack.

The referee's decision spurred questions from the visiting team, not because of the incident, but because of Suarez's questionable moves, which were not called by the referee.

Even if Barcelona took home the win, there could be bigger problems, as Messi was said to be taken out of the game because of a possible muscle injury.

Daily Mail said Messi was removed from the game at half time as a "precaution" by FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique. Messi is set to undergo tests on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.

"Tomorrow tests will be conducted, he has some mild muscle fatigue. There was no sense in taking risks. I don't like to risk anyone, least of all Messi," Enrique added.

The FIFA Ballon d'Or was not able to play for two weeks late last year due to a knee injury.
