American television network Starz is now aiming to attract more viewers from the Latin community with three new projects in Spanish-language formats.

The Los Angeles Times noted that the effort of the network is part of its aim to reach a more diverse audience, as per Starz CEO Chris Albrecht.

The television network has reportedly succeeded in expanding to African American audiences with their series "Survivor's Remorse" and "Power."

"The audience we're going for is the bilingual, second-generation audience," Albrecht said at a session during the Television Critics Association's winter press tour.

Hollywood Reporter added that the CEO has also admitted that this kind of audience is a bit difficult to capture, but noted that "it's an audience that if we lean into them a little we can show them that Starz has them on our minds."

This time, Starz is aiming to get hold of the Latino audience with three new series -- "Maleficio," "Pour Vida," and "Santeria."

It was detailed in the Hollywood Reporter piece that Maleficio is a supernatural thriller, co-produced by the network with Televisa USA. It will run for an hour and will tell the story of Mexican businessman Don Enrique de Martino and his deadly agreement with the devil.

On the other hand, "Pour Vida" is based on the short story written by Richard Villegas Jr. which recounts a business venture of twin sisters Brook and Lyn Hernandez. Broadway World said the two opened a wine and tapas bar, which they named Pour Vida.

The same report added that the bar has become the sole protector of the tenants and other old businesses in the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, "Santeria" is a supernatural drama that centres on the quest of undercover agents to investigate a murder linked to the Cuban faith tradition called "santeria."

According to BBC, this religion's beliefs are founded on Yoruba traditions, mixed with some Roman Catholic elements. It also reportedly developed because of the slave trade in the country.

Aside from these projects, the TV network is also developing "Havana Quartet," which stars Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, who will play a role of a detective.

Variety added that the filming for the said series is targeted to be shot in Cuba, but the network said nothing is yet definite, since it will depend on who will be the next president of the United States.

Albrecht announced that Cuban playwright will write the drama series, based on the detective novel series "Havana Blue," "Havana Gold," "Havana Red" and "Havana Black," as per Deadline.

It added that the show will be set in the 1990s, a time when "when the communist dream was starting to fray around the edges, but there still was a lot of charm."
