Atletico Madrid is again on the top spot of La Liga after it won 2-0 versus Celta Vigo on Sunday.
The Guardian said that the two players instrumental for the team's victory, which helped it recapture the top spot from FC Barcelona, were Antoine Griezmann and Yannick Carrasco.
It added that the two players were able to score goals for the team even if they were in very difficult situations.
The game, as per AS, was rumored to be suspended last Friday because of the heavy downpour in Balaidos, Spain, submerging the area around the stadium, including ticket booths and dressing rooms.
However, Celta Vigo staff made sure that the game pushed through despite the conditions of the playing field. Bleacher Report noted, however, that they were slipping and sliding, with the crowd forced to go back to the stands because of the rain.
According to ESPN FC, Atletico had a hard time in gaining advantage over the home team, but they were finally able to make a "breakthrough" after 49 minutes in the game.
The same report explained that Diego Simeone's team had restricted goal scoring opportunities during the game, but they were still able to penetrate their opponent's defense.
Griezmann also had the strategy of moving outside the area and utilizing his change of pace to get into the box.
"We knew it would be a tough game as Celta play the ball around well. But we were strong at the back and we know that when we have chances up front we can score at any moment," Griezmann told The Guardian.
He added that the team has been doing well with their offense and defense. "We have to keep it going," he added.
Atleticos' effort in defeating Celta and regaining the La Liga top spot was also hailed by Simeone, who said that their strategy for the match was to go from low to high.
"In the first 20 minutes, the team suffered but then started playing better. And then in the second half they understood how to handle the game without the ball," the Atletico Madrid manager explained in a Goal.com report.
Simeone also said that this victory is an inspiration for them to work harder in their Copa del Rey game versus Rayo Vallecano on Thursday.
The manager remains positive that his players will continue to work hard, especially in terms of their attack to get the Spanish title.
"Neither [set of players] are better nor worse than the other but we have a group that is prepared to compete at any time," he added.
