Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach confirmed that Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez had already responded to her in the wake of Steve Harvey's controversial announcement during the crowning night.
Us Weekly was able to talk to Miss Universe, who revealed that Miss Colombia had already responded to her attempts at contacting her after that fateful night in December.
"She replied to me, but I haven't seen her yet. I'm not exactly sure where she is right now," she told the outlet on January 6, during the interview held at the NYC headquarters on Wednesday.
Quite noticeably, however, the beauty queen did not volunteer any details on what the conversation was about.
She further revealed everything she knows regarding Miss Colombia's current endeavors and told the outlet that she plans on visiting her fellow beauty queen during her visit in Colombia as part of her Miss Universe duties.
This news was also posted on Perez Hilton's official website, where it was noted that the Miss Universe judge sees it as an "interesting" development in the entire controversy.
The "Family Feud" host admitted that he has yet to hear from Gutierrez after the Miss Universe crowning night, according to a previous report from Us Weekly.
"Immediately after it happened, they asked the pageant people to come to the press conference. I wasn't scheduled to be at a press conference, so I went to the press conference and made all the apologies there," he recalled during his first Steve Harvey Morning Show segment in 2016.
He continued on to explain what happened during that night.
"Now, when the mistake was made, when I said the wrong woman's name, I can only give information I had. No one knows, and that information is not in the teleprompter because you've got two women standing there. I read what was on the teleprompter, then I read what was on the card," he added.
According to Us Weekly, both Wurtzbach and the 58-year-old host have reached out to Gutierrez, but the latter appears to still be waiting for a response from her.
When asked what she thought about it, Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach believes that if she were in Miss Colombia's shoes, she would respond to the host.
"I would respond to him. I think it takes a lot for him to admit that he made a mistake, especially like that. It was on live television. And for him to consistently keep on reaching out to her - it's a very admirable move from him," she explained, adding that the Colombian beauty may still be "in the process of understanding what's going on."
