The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are undoubtedly some of the highly anticipated smartphones of the year. The devices are poised to be released in September of this year.
It was reported by Tech Times that late last year, Apple was planning to drop the standard 3.5 mm headphone port on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to make the handsets relatively thinner than their predecessors. Supply chain sources in China now support those previous rumours.
According to the website, it was found out that Apple is now polishing up the finishing touches on its next-generation devices: the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Both are expected to make an impact in the market this coming fall.
It was previously reported that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will debut a brand-new design that will make the devices super thin. In order to achieve this, the reports claimed that Apple was going to get rid of the 3.5 mm headphone port in favor of making use of single Lightning port that would charge the devices, transfer data, and listen to audio.
Chinese tech site Anzhuo supports these claims, as supply chain sources have revealed that Apple will indeed drop the 3.5 mm headphone port from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. They said that this will allow Apple to focus on having users make use of their brand new and innovative wireless headphones, known as wireless "AirPods." Per the report, Apple has already trademarked it and is rumored to include it in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus' box.
Added to these rumours, the iPhone 7 Plus will also support a huge, 3,100 mAh battery, and will top out at 256 GB of internal storage. The iPhone 7 Plus will boast a 5.5 inch screen, while the iPhone 7 will sport a 4.7 inch one.
Should the rumors be believed, the iPhone 7 Plus' larger 3,100 mAh battery will be 12.7 percent larger than the iPhone 6s Plus' 2,750 mAh battery. The 256 GB storage option will also make the 7 Plus one of the only smartphones on the current market to boast that large of an amount of internal storage.
In the coming months, people can expect to be bombarded with reports of the highly-anticipated smartphones of 2016. Two of the biggest players in the smartphone arena, Samsung and Apple, are both going to be in fierce competition once again for smartphone domination with "7" series devices.
Apple has given no official announcements as of yet regarding their upcoming roster of devices, so it is best to treat all rumors with a grain of salt.
