Samsung Gear S2 is now compatible with the devices of its rival Apple, which the company announced during the International Consumer Economics Show on Wednesday.

CNBC reported that the wearable device, which was previously compatible with Samsung phones only, can now be used along with an Apple device, be it an iPhone or an iPad.

It explained that Samsung now aims "to attract more developers, who can now also gain access to Apple users, to make apps" for their products.

It is still not clearly explained how the compatibility will work, but Pocket Lint said there could be a dedicated application which will soon be made available in the Apple App Store for the Gear S2.

According to TechCrunch, Samsung also unveiled two variants of the Gear S2 -- a new 18-karat rose gold option and a platinum one. The report said that similar to the Apple Watch, this device from the Korean company is also made from real gold.

The two newly introduced variants will reportedly be available next month, though the price for the two has not yet been revealed.

Despite the introduction of the new watch variants, Droid-Life said the features of the Gear S2 will remain the same.

In addition, CNBC noted that the Samsung watch will also be able to support Samsung Pay in South Korea this year.

It said that the technology enables users to make mobile payments with a single tap of their Gear S2.

Revealed at the IFA 2015 in Berlin, the Samsung Gear S2 also has a dual-core, 1 GHz clock, 4GB storage space and 512GB RAM. Other useful features of the smartwatch are the accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyroscope and heart rate sensors.

The Gear S2 costs $299, while the smaller, but dressier S2 Classic has a $349.99 price tag.

Samsung's newest wearable device was tagged by some as the "best round smartwatch" in the market.

Mashable said that a big component for such a great product is its "completely new, classic look and gains every benefit of running the ultra-light and fast Tizen OS."

It added that the design is simple and beautiful, coupled with an "excellent display and interface." The comfortable feel of the watch was also highlighted, along with a great list of other features, including the rotating bezel.

Gizmag said that the watch also handles the alert vibrations better than the Android Wear.

It also highlighted that the battery life of the device is remarkable, and lasts up to three days.
