In the half year that the Sony Xperia C has been out, the handset hasn't received a single firmware update, but that's all changed now. Sony has rolled out the first firmware update for the Xperia C.

Update build 16.0.B.2.6 has started landing on Xperia Cs model C2305, as noted by Xperia Blog. The firmware doesn't bump up the Android version, meaning Xperia Cs will still be stuck on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean it released with.

There isn't an official changelog to sift through, but the firmware most likely fixes a number of problems that have been plaguing Xperia Cs. These include, but are not limited to, memory usage problems, battery drainage, poor camera quality, and volume issues. Xperia Blog notes that the update seems to have boosted system performance and fixed a bug where apps would simply disappear from the home screen.

It's unclear in which regions exactly the Xperia C is receiving the new update, although it shouldn't be long before all markets where the handset is available get a chance to download the firmware.

Sony has not confirmed any future updates for the Xperia C such as Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or Android 4.4 KitKat.

Let us know if you've had a chance to download the new update for your Sony Xperia C, where you're located, and what changes you notice in the comments section below.
