Marvel and DC Comics' rivalry is front and center once again as the second season of "Daredevil" will reportedly debut on the same day as "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" premieres in theaters.

ComicBook.com reported from independent sources that Marvel and Netflix are aiming to unveil "Daredevil" Season 2 on March 25, 2016, a release date associated with the highly anticipated "Batman v Superman" film from DC and Warner Bros., which is headlined by Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent and Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne.

The first season of "Daredevil" received critical acclaim, and its second offering will introduce Jon Bernthal as Punisher/Frank Castle and élodie Yung as Elektra in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ComicBook.com noted.

The shared premiere date of "Daredevil" and "Batman v Superman" will prove to be an interesting challenge to comic-based entertainment. Granted, the two projects will debut in different platforms and aren't really in a direct competition with one another. The Charlie Cox-starrer "Daredevil" is 10 hours long and offers no additional cost to Netflix subscribers, which means it can be watched by fans in the comfort of their own homes.

"Batman v Superman," on the other hand, will likely be 2-2.5 hours long, and costs roughly $9 per ticket, ComicBook.com pointed out. Plus, the film's premiere date requires going out and venturing in movie theaters. Avid fans of these superheroes will probably make time for both, but casual moviegoers could choose one over the other.

This isn't the first time that Marvel and DC went toe-to-toe in their respective release dates. DC and WB previously announced a May 6, 2016 premiere for "Batman v Superman," the same date that Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" will bow in theaters. Marvel stood their ground, while DC eventually conceded and chose to move their release date five weeks ahead, the news outlet added.

Marvel TV and Netflix didn't confirm ComicBook.com's claim over the release date of "Daredevil."

'Daredevil' Season 2 - Latest News

"Daredevil" Season 2 will highlight Frank a.k.a. The Punisher, a former Special Forces soldier with a terrible past who becomes a vigilante in New York City, Entertainment Weekly wrote. His mission treads close to Cox's Matt Murdock's, except Frank uses guns instead of beating down goons and doesn't shy away from murdering criminals and supervillains.

Season 2 will also showcase Matt getting closer to Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) as his ex-girlfriend Elektra enters the scene. Showrunner Doug Petrie described Elektra as the "best bad girlfriend," adding that she "does everything wrong and attractive" and is Matt's id and "wild side," which the superhero is always taming, Entertainment Weekly reported.
