The newest Super Smash Bros. 4 character has been confirmed, and once again Nintendo has revealed that a character from a previous installment of the series will be returning for the latest game in the franchise.

On the official website for the game, as well as game director Masahiro Sakurai's Miiverse page, Nintendo announced that King Dedede will be returning to the game, bringing the total amount of characters confirmed for the game to 21. Sakurai added a brief caption to his Miiverse page explaining that the news is in honor of King Dedede appearing in the latest Kirby game being released in Japan.

"Pic of the day. Celebrating the launch of Kirby: Triple Deluxe in Japan, King Dedede joins the battle! Check out his evocative facial expressions on the official web site," wrote Sakurai.

The character does indeed have some expressive and funny facial expressions as it is easy to see if the character is in pain or gearing up for an attack. This new attention to detail shows how the Wii U and 3DS will add a whole new level to the Super Smash Bros. series and allow users to really enjoy the bright and colorful series in HD for the first time.

King Dedede is the main antagonist for Kirby, another character confirmed for Super Smash Bros. 4. Throughout many different games, spanning many different Nintendo consoles, King Dedede and Kirby have fought it out, and the popular villain is a fun character to play as in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the first game in the series he appeared in. Players can use his rocket-powered mallet to crush foes and send them flying, or they can fly around the map much like Kirby. This combination of strong attacks and quick agility has made King Dedede one of the more popular characters in the series, so it makes sense that Nintendo would bring him back for the newest installment of the fabled franchise.

Super Smash Bros. 4 does not have a release date yet, but Nintendo has promised that the game will be coming out sometime in 2014. The game will be coming to the Wii U as well as the 3DS, in two unique versions that will have exclusive stages and trophies to collect. The two versions of the game will have some sort of connectivity feature, but Nintendo has not elaborated on what this feature will be like.
