DeSean Jackson had the best season of his NFL career and the 27-year-old wide receiver wants to re-negotiate his contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jackson signed a five-year deal worth $48.25 million in March 2012, including a signing bonus of $10 million.

Jackson already earned $6.75 million this past season and is set to make $10.25 million in 2015 and $9.75 million in 2015 and 2016, but he believes he deserves to get more following his career year for the Eagles this season.

"I definitely feel it's something deserving," Jackson said in an interview with CSN Philly. "We'll see how that plays out, and hopefully we can work things out smoothly and not have to worry about anything out of the ordinary."

"But I definitely feel like it's deserving. I'm proven in this league, and after this past year, went out there, no distractions, and just really put it all in for my team and went out there and had a lot of success, so we'll see how it goes," he added.

Jackson, who fell short of expectations in 2012 in which he only played in 11 games, set a career-high 1,332 receiving yards this year. He also came up with a career-best 82 catches, 60 first-down receptions, and nine touchdowns in 16 games this year.

Jackson's 1,332 yards this season was 77 yards short of breaking the Eagles single-season franchise record set by Mike Quick in 1983, while his 82 catches this season is currently the fourth-best single-season record in Eagles history.

The former California standout, whose previous contract was negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus, believes that his new agent, Joe Segal, will strike a new contract that would benefit both parties.

"Honestly, I feel very confident that my agent will work something out," Jackson said. "I feel like I have a great agent, that's what he's for, that's what his job is, all I have to really worry about is staying out of trouble and keeping my nose clean and doing the things I need to do," Jackson said.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was asked whether or not they are open to re-working Jackson's contract, but the GM declined to react on Jackson's request for a new deal.

"We don't talk about contract matters with any player," Roseman stressed. "I think it's important we keep those things in-house. He had a heck of a year and he's a good player."
