20th Century Fox's new red-band trailer for "Deadpool," released on Christmas day, was everything fans expected, and more.

Collider notes that many are happy with the newly released clip, with its "fourth-wall breaking jokes and self-referential humor," which basically spells the theme of the movie.

Reynolds plays the titular role of Wade Wilson, the man behind the mask.

Also called the "Merc with a mouth," Wilson's unusual story begins when he and the love of his life, Vanessa, played by Morena Baccarin, finds out that he has cancer in several vital organs: the liver, prostate, lungs and brain.

With his life only just beginning to make sense, Wilson decides that he is not yet ready to part with his beloved just yet, which is why he signs up to be a test subject for an experimental science program that vows to treat his disease.

Unfortunately, things head toward the unexpected as Wilson finds out that he is turned into a superpowered slave after the experiments did not only heal his cancer, but also made him virtually indestructible.

The worst part is that the painful procedures he went through also left him looking like what Cinema Blend describes as "a shriveled walnut."

Wearing a red-and-black suit as Deadpool, he then vows to locate Ajax (Ed Skrien), the man in charge of the experiment that turned his life around.

Aside from the highly expected spiels from the famous anti-hero, the trailer for the Ryan Reynolds-starrer film also treated viewers to some of Deadpool's friends and adversaries to be featured in the flick.

The clip featured an exchange between Deadpool and the metal-covered mutant Colossus, played by Stefan Kapicic, as well as a very cool clash between Negasonic Teenage Warhead, played by Brianna Hildebrand, and Gina Carano's Angel Dust.

For those who missed it, the red-band trailer was released alongside a cleaner version that Cinema Blend deemed appropriate even for kids, last Christmas Eve.

It also came with a special Tweet from "Wolverine" star Hugh Jackman who used his famous X-Men character to promote the upcoming film.

Aside from the abovementioned actors, the film also stars T.J. Miller as Weasel and Morena Baccarin who plays Wilson's girlfriend, Vanessa Carlysle a.k.a. Copycat.

20th Century Fox's "Deadpool" will hit theaters in the U.S. on February 12, 2016.
