The Internet meme that is Slender Man has taken off in the past few years, with fans creating works of art, writing stories, and creating videos featuring the terrifying creature. Blue Isle Studios created a stir when they created the free browser-based game Slender: The Eight Pages in 2012 and the game's sequel Slender: The Arrival. Now, Blue Isle is preparing to bring the popular PC game to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the first quarter of 2014, with additional content to please fans.
According to IGN, the console version of the game will have all of the levels found in the Steam and PC versions, but the developer is also preparing some new levels for fans to explore. The new content, known as "flashback levels," will go into the background of the victims of Slender Man and publisher Midnight City is promising fans that the levels with go into the background of the characters in more detail. These two new levels will be available once users have completed the main story of the game.
While this new content is coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, owners of the PC and Steam versions of the game may be concerned that they will be left out of this new version of Slender: The Arrival. However, the new levels will be coming to the previous versions of the game for free when the console versions of the game come out.
Slender: The Arrival is a cult hit, and is one the short list of the best indie survival horror games in recent memory. The game features a player trying to navigate through levels as Slender man, who appears as a tall, faceless man in a suit and tie, and randomly pops up and attempts to stop the player. The game's tension comes from the inability to stop Slender Man and having to run away from the creature in order to survive. As Slender Man approaches, there will be fuzzy feedback coming from the game and the screen will begin to fill with static until players are met by Slender Man and lose the game.
With Slender: The Arrival coming soon, a whole new group of players can experience the game and the horrifying tension it creates. Finding Slender Man on a big screen television late at night with the lights off should be the highlight of many video game sessions.
