Infamous: Second Son is set to wow PlayStation 4 owners when it is released exclusively on the console March 21; for many, it represents the first true next-gen game for the system. Now, we have our first real taste of what to expect from the upcoming game thanks to a gameplay preview at CES 2014, and the third installment of the series may be the best one yet.

As IGN reports, the use of the elemental powers that main character Delsin has is incredibly fluid, and players will find themselves using them quite frequently in the open world of the game. Developer Sucker Punch is dedicated to making a game that encourages exploration of the virtual rendition of Seattle, while the powers for the game draw people in visually, with incredibly detailed effects for Deslin's different powers. The smoke powers cause big puffs of smoke to appear, and the particle physics for the game make the features stand out every time the powers are used.

While the open world may not look any better than the rest of the open world games available on the PlayStation 4, the way that Suck Punch has designed the world of the game is something that is truly incredible. Delsin is able to use the smoke and neon found in the world to fuel his powers, and Sucker Punch has littered the world with various areas where users can recharge their powers. The virtual Seattle has many different neon signs that Delsin can drain for their power, and the developer has even added small but realistic details such as smoke rising from sewer vents that can be channeled into the playable character.

The city has many different destructible elements to offer. Blasts from one of Delsin's attacks can destroy vehicles, buildings and even people. The game will be populated by many different A.I. citizens, who will flee from the player if the special powers found in the game are used. Infamous: Second Son will also have special gameplay maneuvers that will appear during boss fights.

With these improvements adding a new level of excitement and adventure not previously seen in the series, Infamous: Second Son has the potential to be one of the best games available on the PlayStation 4 in 2014.
