The Moto G is on pace to be one of the few handsets with Android 4.4.2 KitKat around the globe. The latest version of Android has now landed on unlocked Moto Gs in Germany, and carrier Vodafone is promising it on board when the phone launches through its network.

The United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany are the only three countries where Android 4.4.2 KitKat is rolling out over the air. This only applies to unlocked handsets, and carrier-tied variants that will simply have to wait longer due to their network's approval and distribution processes.

The Moto G is an incredibly cheap £130 off contract in the United Kingdom, but carrier Vodafone has told CNET that it is hoping to lure buyers by offering Android 4.4.2 KitKat on board when the phone launches. The carrier has not given a specific release date for the Moto G.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat boasts a cleaner, flatter look, and the operating system is intimately intertwined with Google Now. By making the intelligent personal assistant more tied into functions such as the phone dialer, Google is hoping Google Now will be able to provide relevant information before it is even asked. The update also contains the usual security and performance enhancements.

Motorola has also packaged in improvements to accessory support, photo editing, and messaging, all while making it easier to print documents from the phone.

The Moto G is one of the only handsets running Android 4.4.2 KitKat outside of Google's Nexus devices.
