Titanfall is one of the hottest Xbox One games coming in 2014, and the game will feature only multiplayer action that mixes traditional first person combat with giant robots that players can also control. Now, one of the founders of the game's developer, Vince Zampella, has revealed how many players will be able to play in a single multiplayer match in Titanfall, and the answer may surprise fans.
When one fan asked Zampella via Twitter what the max player count for Titanfall will be, he responded with a number that may be shocking to those that have seen some of the demos and video of the game:
"6v6 is max player count. Turned out to be the best balance with AI for us."
This may confuse fans that have watched the trailers for the game and seen many different players scrambling around a map fighting it out. Now it looks like these giant battles will be a mix of AI controlled fighters and human players and the mechs that will accompany them. The exact amount of characters involved in a match have not been confirmed, but it appears as though Titanfall will still be a crazy and chaotic experience even with just 12 human players involved in a match.
To put the 12 person limit in perspective, many gamers easily push beyond this number. for example, Call of Duty: Ghosts features matches with 32 players online at once, and Battlefield 4 on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 has 64 player matches available. However, considering that Titanfall will not just have 12 players in a max but will have additional AI players as filler to add extra strategy. After all, human players are much more devious and capable of more thrilling firefights than AI players. Plus, the game will have mechs fighting it out and adding further chaos to the matches as these massive robots stomp around the map.
Titanfall will not only innovate the way that multiplayer matches are played, but will try to change the way that the shooter genre tells a story. Instead of having a single player story mode, Respawn Entertainment is combining single player story elements into the multiplayer matches, so that the outcomes of these matches will affect the way that the story plays out.
Look out for more news on Titanfall as Respawn Entertainment prepares the game for the March 11 release on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
