Motorola is determined to take the smartphone world by storm in 2016. The company has taken a backseat during the past year, and now hopes to make a comeback with the Moto X 2016.
Tech Times announced that Motorola is hard at work on perfecting what will be their next-generation flagship. The company enjoyed worldwide success in 2004 when it released the iconic Motorola RAZR, a clamshell phone, which defined a generation. The company managed to sell 130 million units worldwide. To date, the Motorola RAZR was the highest grossing clamshell phone ever sold.
Unfortunately, the company has not seen the same success in sales since then, and when Google closed the deal to acquire Motorola for $12.5 billion in 2012, the company had to put in hard work on a unit that would up its game in the smartphone arena. Before that, the company had gone through many hits and misses.
Leaks of the images of the Motorola Moto X 2016 have already surfaced online. It appears that the flagship phone will have a metal body and a large camera. Motorola has remained silent with regards to the details on its next-generation flagship. Details have been very minimal, although there is some speculation made by some tech analysts.
Tech Radar reports that the shiny metal design of the Moto X 2016 is a rather unusual choice and looks very curious, based on the leaks. The phone also features a very large rear camera, which is also an unusual feature in most smartphones today.
The Moto X 2016 also seems to stand out with its metal and glass body construction. Unfortunately, the leaks provide very little information on the features of the upcoming flagship. The Moto X 2016 is speculated to be one of the high-end phones that will be released by Motorola.
Android Standard speculates that the Moto X 2016 might run on a powerful Snapdragon 820 chipset, and will sport a 21 MP camera with QHD resolution. The website also speculates that the phone will be powered by 4000 mAh battery that can also support its fast-charging feature. It is reported that Snapdragon 820 is coming with Quick Charge 3.0. This means that it is most likely that the Moto X can charge up to 80% in under 35 minutes. It is also possible that Motorola may debut the Moto X 2016 with Type-C USB port or Fingerprint scanner.
Moto X 2016 might be priced at $400-500. Motorola may also launch the Moto X 2016 in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal memory variants.
