The year is barely over, and already there is news surrounding the smartphones that will be released in 2016. South Korean tech giant, Samsung, is prepping itself on what could be another competitive year.

Samsung is slated to release it next generation flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S7 early next year. However, Samsung is also scheduled to release a slew of mid-ranged phones that offer top-tier specs. The South Korean company enjoyed success in sales with the Samsung J and Samsung A series, so it comes as no surprise that Samsung hopes to duplicate that success in the Samsung Galaxy A9.

Tech Times reported that the South Korean conglomerate is expected to release the second generation of its highly popular Galaxy A-series. These phones offer a unique blend of midrange prices, packed with high-end designs. The company previously announced the launching of the A3, A5 and A7 models. Now, Samsung has announced the flagship of the A series, the Samsung Galaxy A9.

At first glance, the Samsung Galaxy A9 is a very pretty phone to look at. The Samsung Galaxy A9 is going to be the biggest phone of the A-series, much larger than the current A7. The flagship will sport a massive 6-inch screen, that will make the other 5.7-inch screen phones out on the market akin to dwarfs.

GSM Arena reported that the Samsung Galaxy A9 will have a 1080p resolution and is expected to pack a punch running on the Snapdragon 620 chipset. The website reports that the 620 platform offers a powerful octa-core 1.8GHz processor, with 4x Cortex-A72 and 4x Cortex-A53 cores. The GPU in charge of graphics is Adreno 510.

Fresh out of the box, the phone will be running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Battery life is always an issue, so the phone will be equipped with a huge 4,000 mAh battery that should last heavy users two days.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 will also boast of a beautiful super AMOLED screen like its predecessor, which will guarantee a sharp and crisp resolution. The Galaxy A9 will be gifted with 3 GB of RAM.

The flagship phone will also be equipped with a beautiful 13-megapixel snapper on the rear. It is reported to be packed with optical image stabilization, as well as a larger f/1.9 aperture for brighter pictures, which is ideal for taking pictures in low lighting conditions.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 is expected to be released soon, sometime around late December to early January of next year.
