NBA 2K14's numerous technical problems have been well documented; the game's unique structure has made some online and offline portions inaccessible, and there are a wide range of other complaints as well about the broken nature of the game. While the game's developer is trying to fix these problems by adding new patches, users are still finding the game is unplayable in most cases.
A patch was released on Dec. 19, but the MyPlayer, MyCareer, and MyGM mode still have problems ranging from connection issues with the game's online modes and cloud saves, to reports of save files being corrupted and even the controller failing to function properly in the game. Fans have been flooding the Twitter account for 2K Support trying to find answers, but the team behind the game has seemingly offered no answers besides reassurances that they are working to fix the game.
"The team is continuing to investigate the #NBA2K14 reports coming in. Thanks for your patience," 2K Support wrote on Twitter.
While bugs appear on most versions of the game, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions appear to have the most issues, with early adopters of the systems frequently complaining that various modes of the game do not work or that the online connection to the game is lost in the middle of a game. This is particularly painful as 2K heavily hyped the game for next-gen consoles at various events and promised basketball fans a true next-gen experience. Further compounding the issue, these bugs and glitches showed up after the game was released, meaning that those who received the game early to preview or review the game did not have to deal with these problems.
The problem is so bad that Operation Sports reports that some retailers are offering refunds for the game due to how terribly broken it is. Not only are some physical retailers offering a refund, but reports are coming in that online retailers are offering refunds as well, both in physical and digital download form. This is a serious blow to the game and could damage the NBA 2K franchise for years to come unless the company is able to straighten out the game very soon.
