A new trailer for "Captain America: Civil War" has been released online and it still does not show which side Spider-Man is on.
According to Variety, the release of the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3 is obviously close, considering that the Japanese subbed international trailer was released just a couple of weeks after the first one.
Check it out.
The outlet described the clip to be one that emphasized what Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, thought of the Superhuman Registration Act and how the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) accepted Thaddeus Ross' (William Hurt) order to reprimand Chris Evans' Captain Steve Rogers.
Meanwhile, Collider believes that Evans' performance as the Super Soldier in the new trailer proved to be effective, dubbing him as the "Superman of the 21st century."
"I never thought Cap would become one of my favorite superheroes, but that's what these films and Chris Evans' performance have done. He's the Superman of the 21st century," Collider's Matt Goldberg wrote.
Interestingly, the new trailer is almost similar to the first one except it is a minute shorter, with scenes rearranged and new shots and images added, Screen Rant noted.
One other notable thing in the clip is the absence of two of the "keystone figures" of "Civil War": Black Panther and Spider-Man.
Those who were not able to watch the first trailer should know that Chadwick Boseman's character was introduced with a bang in the initial clip, but no Spider-Man or even Peter Parker (Tom Holland) were to be found.
This time, both characters were absent, which goes to show how Marvel and the Russo Brothers intend to maintain mystery with the web-slinging superhero.
"This makes a bit of sense, maddening though it might be. Both Black Panther and Spider-Man are set to become keystone figures in the MCU, and their introduction in Civil War makes this release a game changer for the movie's world. Keeping them out of the spotlight keeps anticipation high and ensures continued interest in the film in the months before its release," Screen Rant explained.
Furthermore, the filmmakers' marketing strategy has been proven with this latest trailer, emphasizing that the movie is in fact a "Captain America" flick and not the rumored "Avengers 2.5," despite the number of superheroes added to the mix.
In fact, Screen Rant believes that Marvel is only using Spider-Man and Black Panther to gather as much audience interest as possible.
"Captain America: Civi War" will debut in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2016.
