New reports are claiming that Apple's MacBook Air 2016 will be released in June next year and will be equipped with Touch ID and Force Touch technology.

Australia Network News claimed in a report that the MacBook 2016 will be released at the tech giant's World Wide Developer Conference, or WWDC, which takes place during the month of June in San Francisco, California.

Christian Today wrote that one of the reasons why the MacBook Air 2016 is coming sooner rather than later is because the prices of its predecessors are now being trimmed down. This could mean that Apple is clearing store shelves to prepare for a new product's imminent arrival.

MacBook's past iterations have been launched in the spring as well, so it's highly likely that the company will release the MacBook Air 2016 around the same timetable, Venture Capital Post pointed out.

As for the device's possible specifications and features, The Bitbag speculated that the MacBook Air 2016 will likely have the standard Retina display, a Touch ID, Force Touch technology, and Apple's fingerprint sensor. The laptop is also rumored to be equipped with Intel's Skylake processor, a USB type C support, and the latest OS X El Capitan operating system.

Taiwan's Economic Daily News also claimed that the MacBook Air 2016 will be thinner than existing models but with better performance. Mac Rumors wrote that the laptop will arrive in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, but it is not yet sure whether an 11-inch variant will also be rolled out.

"The slimmer design will be enabled by 'fully redesigned' internal components across the board, and Apple is reportedly currently working with its suppliers to develop these new components," Mac Rumors added. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 950 graphics card could be included as well, Yibada claimed.

Master Herald speculated that the MacBook Air 2016 will be priced around $899. It is not known yet whether this price tag is for the 13-inch version or for the 15-inch model.

Remember that these are all speculations for now and Apple is yet to issue an official announcement about the MacBook Air 2016.

MacBook Air - Specs & Features

The MacBook Air currently out in the market is powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, Apple's official site indicated. It has 4GB RAM configurable to 8GB, 128GB and 256GB internal storage options, a 720p FaceTime HD camera, OS X El Capitan, and a battery touted to have the ability to power the laptop for up to 12 hours.
