The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow was just recently unveiled last October, but reports say that the new operating system has not been very sought after. It has been said that, while the updated software has a lot of new improvements, it still has the lowest number of supporters.
According to The Motley Fool, only 1% of all Android users have been using the Android 6.0, despite the important upgrades that make the version of Alphabet's (NASDAQ:GOOG) and (NASDAQ:GOOGL) operating system better.
However, it seems that even more could be done to the Alphabet platform. Android's new operating system was also compared to Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL); the competition between the two continues, as iOS was known to have an up-to-date version on every iPad and iPhone devices.
As reported by the data acquired by Alphabet, there are just about 0.5% of Android devices powered by Android Marshmallow, compared to its predecessor, Android Lollipop, with 29.5%. However, Android KitKat gets more consumers with 36.6%, while past Android versions, like Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Gingerbread, were running 6.5% of devices.
Meanwhile, check the phone brands that can be updated with Android Marshmallow 6.0, from Digital Trends. Unfortunately, not all devices can be powered by the latest operating system, but most of the phone brand giants are included.
