The Metal Gear Solid series has always pushed the boundaries of video games, but the latest entry in the series, Metal gear Solid 5, may push the series further than it ever has before in terms of graphic content. According to Gamespot, the current version of the game was given a "sexual violence" warning, which is just the second time the ESRB has ever used the label.

Officially, Metal Gear Solid 5 has been given a Mature rating, meaning that it is recommended for people age 16 years old and up. The ESRB, which rates games based on content in the United States, tagged the game for "blood and gore, intense violence, sexual violence, and strong language."

The ESRB also provided a brief description of some of the more bloody aspects of the game, as well as the content that earned the game a sexual violence disclaimer:

"This is an action game in which players assume the role of an elite soldier through military missions in Cuba. Players infiltrate various bases and use pistols, machine guns, and rocket launchers to kill enemy soldiers. Firefights are highlighted by realistic gunfire, slow-motion effects, and large blood-splatter effects. Players can also employ stealth attacks (e.g., choking, knife stabbing from behind) and have the ability kill non-adversary characters/prisoners. One cutscene includes a depiction of blood and gore (e.g., a character's intestines exposed during a dramatic procedure to remove an object). The game includes an audio file in which a female character is sexually assaulted by male characters; while there is no visual depiction, sounds of ripped clothing and struggle can be heard. The words 'f**k' and 'sh*t' are heard in the dialogue," wrote the ESRB.

While it not exactly clear in what context this violent and disturbing sexual content appears in the game, nonetheless the game and Konami may face backlash for including the dialogue in the game. This may also hurt Metal Gear Solid 5's international release as many countries may require these parts of the game to be removed or censored before Metal Gear Solid 5 is allowed to be sold in those countries.

In any case, fans will get their first taste of Metal gear Solid 5 when ground Zeroes, the DLC preview for the game, is launched in March. This mission will help fans of the game get ready for Metal Gear Solid 5 and learn the new mechanics that will be a part of the new game.
