Marvel Comics confirms "Civil War II" event amid the excitement for the upcoming movie adaptation of its predecessor, "Captain America: Civil War," due in theaters in 2016.

Back in 2006, Marvel released the seven-issue comics called "Civil War," featuring an epic between the most loved team of heroes on Earth: The Avengers.

According to the official Marvel website, the comic book series revolved around a schism between Iron Man and Captain America, brought about by the emergence of the Superhero Registration Act.

Ultimately, this law governs and requires all heroes and their activity to be monitored by an assigned bureau of the government --something that Tony Stark approves, but Captain Steve Rogers does not.

According to Screen Rant, while this is the exact same theme the third standalone "Captain America" movie has, the comic books seemed to favor one side more than the other by "villainizing Tony Stark in a way that didn't make sense."

Despite this, the outlet believes that the first "Civil War" comic book series still did great in providing a logical story that explored the political side of justice delivered by vigilantes.

"If a super-genius scientist can make weapons of mass destruction or automated killer robots, who regulates this? What gives people with powers the right to fly or teleport across borders without permission?" the outlet pondered, coming to the conclusion that this is what made the story worth reading.

In October of this year, Comic Book featured a post card that looked like a teaser of sorts for the "Civil War" sequel.

Now, Marvel Comics has confirmed such news with a report on their website stating the details of "Civil War II."

According to the post, David Marquez and Brian Michael Bendis, the duo behind "Invincible Iron Man," will be picking up where artist, Steve McNiven, and writer, Mark Millar, left off.

"The fun thing about CIVIL WAR [was] that the issues involved not only divided the heroes, they also divided the fans, to say nothing of the creative people," Marvel editor, Tom Brevoort explained.

He added that while they will be crafting something new for the follow up series, the creative team of "Civil War II" will remain true to the approach of its predecessor.

"The original CIVIL WAR is one of the most important Marvel comics ever, and we are all very excited to have come up with what we hope is a story worthy of the title. If you are scared of earth shattering Marvel events where no one is safe...be afraid, be very afraid," Bendis teased.

The exact date of release for "Civil War II" has yet to be announced, although Comic Book has reason to believe it could be sometime between April or May next year.
