The dark and eerie world of "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" is hitting the big screen, thanks to visionary filmmaker, Tim Burton.

According to Screen Rant, Burton is known for his "long-standing reputation for tackling creepy and macabre subject matter" and has a curious hobby of bringing out the dark side of stories penned for children like "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

Now, Ransom Riggs' best-selling novel, created around a series of odd vintage photos will be his next peculiar project.

"Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" is the first of three books from Riggs, tackling the adventures of a boy named Jacob Portman.

The story starts off with the mysterious death of Jacob's grandfather, which sparks the beginning of his quest to locate the orphanage managed by a person called Miss Peregrine.

During his probe, Jacob meets Emma Bloom, one of the peculiar children who later leads him to the rest of the kids whose special abilities are the reason why they were cast away from the rest of the world.

According to the official Fox Movies website, Burton will be working with Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping, who will take the producers' seats to bring the world of the "Peculiar Children" to the big screen.

Here is part of the movie's official synopsis from the site:

"When his beloved grandfather leaves Jake clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds a magical place known as Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers...and their powerful enemies. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special "peculiarity" can save his new friends."

Cast members include Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game) who will play the lead role and Eva Green (Dark Shadows) to portray the orphanage's head mistress, Miss Peregrine.

Joining them are "Maleficent's," Ella Purnell, as Emma Bloom, "The Avengers,'" Samuel L. Jackson as Mr. Barron, Allison Janney as Doctor Golan, Judi Dench as Miss Avocet, and Terence Stamp as Abraham "Abe" Portman.

Ransom Riggs and the official Peregrines movie Twitter account shared some of the first few photos from filming, which began earlier this year.

"Are you ready for the peculiar? #StayPeculiar," one post read, captioning an image of a lamp covered with creepy insects and a doll's head on a shelf.

Another photo shows silhouettes of people in a dark forest captioned: "Discover the world of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, in theaters Spring 2016. #StayPeculiar"

A third image shows the book's author standing as foreground on the set of the infamous "Priest Hole pub" in the film.

The movie is set for theatrical release on March 4, 2016.
