The is two big stories about the legendary Final Fantasy series that have appeared recently, and both deal with Square Enix re-releasing some of the older games in the series in new and different ways.

Firstly, possibly the best Final Fantasy game of all time, Final Fantasy 7, has been released on to Steam.  IGN is reporting that the game has gotten various upgrades, with achievements, cloud saves, and a character booster being added to the PlayStation classic. The game has aged pretty well (except graphically, which may be the reason many fans are rabid for a HD remake of the game). This also may tie into the news that gamers who preorder Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 can choose a special Cloud Strife DLC that will enable Lightning to dress as Cloud, complete with awkwardly giant sword.

Square Enix has also revealed that the upcoming combo HD remake of Final Fantasy X/X-2 will have a new ending sequence, according to Siliconera. The 30 minute long new cut-scene will play after the original credits of the game, written by the original scenario writer for the game, Kazushige Nojima, as well as new voice actors for the ending movie.

It will be interesting to see how the new ending affects the original end of the series, and if fans accept this Metal Gear Solid length ending sequences or if they are upset with Square Enix for messing with the game's story.

There will be many different Final Fantasy games available in the near future for fans of the RPG series to play through. In addition to Final Fantasy 7, the X/X-2 remake, and Lightning Returns, Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will be out August 27. Also on the Way is Final Fantasy 15, which is due to appear on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at some point, though no release date has been given as of yet.
