"GTA 6" and "Red Dead Redemption 2," two of the most anticipated games may be launched next year, a leak by a former Rockstar Games employee revealed.
According to the International Business Times (IBT), ex-Rockstar employee Danny Ross "cryptically suggested" in a Reddit discussion, that "Red Dead Redemption 2" is already in the works.
When a user asked him about the upcoming offerings of Rockstar, he replied with "Really? Dumbass. Really? Two." Users reportedly interpreted "2" to refer to "Red Dead Redemption 2."
IBT added that Ross issued another statement after much prodding from fans and gamers.
"Nah I'm just playing. GTA 6 is up next but they're waiting for more Michael Mann movies to rip off first," Ross said.
This garnered various reactions from the online world who got confused with the announcements, although some believed that Ross was only trolling gamers.
Meanwhile, Express said that Rockstar gamers and fans are certainly hoping that the rumor is true, not only for the "Red Dead Redemption" sequel but also for GTA.
"Red Dead Redemption 2" is expected to be available by next year, and is believed to have new system features, along with an update of its firmware.
A separate Express report detailed the development of "Red Dead Redemption 2" was also placed in the spotlight when Rockstar San Diego posted a job listing looking for a networking programmer specializing "in a wide range of gameplay mechanics found in a Rockstar open world game."
The game is believed to have upgraded to multiplayer features and a gang mode, which will allow players to choose if they want to be part of a gang or a police team.
Movie Pilot speculated seeing developers of the game having Japan as the new setting of the new game.
It also added that fans would want to see a "more dynamic fighting system" for this upcoming installment.
On the other hand, Neurogadget said there is a very low probability that "GTA 6" will be released in the next two years.
"It will take more years for the developers to build this game. We agree that they have many ideas they can use, but still, a game such as GTA can't be built in just 2 years," added the same report.
With this expectation set, players can reportedly anticipate that the game will be available on the market sometime in 2019 or 2020.
The game is anticipated to arrive with a female lead character, modeled after actress Eva Mendes.
News Every Day report confirmed Rockstar Games' interest in introducing a female protagonist. According to the report, the game developer's vice president, Dan Houser, said: "In the future, could we do a game with a lead female character? Of course, we just haven't found the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things we always think about."
The game is expected to be available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
