The latest update for Android might be available for Sony Xperia Z5 this January. The highly anticipated update presents a variety of new features that will certainly benefit all Xperia Z5 users.

In a report with Android Authority, Android Marshmallow 6.0 just might be available for the Sony Xperia Z5 as early as January of next year. This information comes as good news for users of Sony's latest flagship, as reliable sources have already revealed the features of the Sony Xperia Z5 running on Android M. Official statements have not been issued by Sony yet, but there are already some speculations made by some of the most reliable sources on the internet.

Perhaps the most highly anticipated feature of the Xperia Z5 running on Android M is the Doze feature. This is Android M's way of maximizing battery life once the device is detected to be low in battery. Users will be able receive phone calls, text messages and MMS notifications. The alarm clock will still be able ring, the native calendar app should still work, but the LED lights will indicate that the device's battery is dangerously low.

The device automatically shuts down apps that are not running, decreases screen brightness and maximizes battery life. Like many Android users who have already updated to Android M, Xperia Z5 users can see the advantages of upgrading their operating system. While the Z5 already has an excellent battery life, upgrading to Android M would maximize it. This is similar to the Low Power Mode feature that is present on the iPhone running on iOS 9.

Unfortunately for Z3 and Z4 users, the latest update won't be available on these devices. Sony is pushing for the success of its latest flagship which promises to have optimal performance on the update.

Another way Android M will further enhance Xperia Z5, is in its latest update, which will include support for the Xperia Z5 Premium's 4K display. Given this fact, the 4K display would be able to run full-time, as opposed to when it was running on Android Lollipop. On default mode, the Xperia Z5 runs on Full HD mode when not performing a series set of tasks that would activate the superior resolution, Tech Times reports.

Sony has not given word as to when Android Marshmallow 6.0 will be available on the flagship. Tech analysts have speculated that it should come early next year to get a jump start on things. Remember to treat all rumours with a grain of salt.
