Another half season of "The Walking Dead" has come to a close, and while the mid-season finale managed to answer several questions, it raised more, much to the dismay of the show's fans.
Fortunately for fans, executive producer, Scott Gimple, shared some details about the show, starting with the fact that it's all about "Start to Finish." He also spoke about the show's second half, and why the new villain is nothing like you've seen before.
On why they ended the season the way it did, Gimple explained on USA Today, "That was a point when all of the characters' stories were set. That's when everybody was either in their most precarious position or when they had keyed in on what they need to do. The table was set for the next part of the story."
On how new villain, Negan, is different from others in the past, he said, "Negan is pure id. Just unmitigated id. He's not a psychopath. He's not crazy. But he is driven and he is very much a character totally unique to the landscape of 'The Walking Dead' that we've seen thus far."
On why Rosita and Tara did not shoot the Wolf, he said that neither of them feel that they can take a clear shot. He shared, "If you have a risk of shooting someone in the face that you love or even like or don't even know, I don't blame them for erring on the side of caution at all. But you do."
What about the fact that everyone seems to have it in for someone else? Entertainment Weekly noted that Ron is trying to kill Carl, while Carol and Morgan are getting into fights. Gimple noted that it is "the pressure in the situation and the claustrophobia of the situation and feeling like there might not be a tomorrow."
But enough about the midseason finale -- what about the rest of "The Walking Dead"? Gimple promised that there are going to be a lot of moments taken directly out of the original media, which is why he recommends that fans catch up with the comics to familiarize themselves with the Saviors when the show gets back for its second half.
He did, however, mention that there will also be some expansions to the comic book story. He shared that there are "some hard left turns from the comic story that do eventually wind up with a lot of very familiar small scenes from the book and big scenes from the book."
Vanity Fair thinks it's about Glenn's death (for real, this time). What do you think?
