The Elder Scrolls Online is one of the top MMORPG games coming in 2014, and many fans of the series are eager to experience the world of the game together with friends for the first time. One of the most interesting aspects of the game will be the player vs. player areas of the game. Lucky for us, game director Paul Sage gave an extended preview of this mode to OXM.
According to Sage, through the player vs. player aspect of the game, players can eventually become emperor of Cyrodiil, the setting of the Elder Scrolls series. This is done by gaining Alliance Points, which are gained by killing human foes, healing your allies, and controlling a keep. Conquering different areas and keeps will grant additional Alliance Points to a player in addition to granting different bonuses for every member of the alliance. When an alliance with the most points takes control of all the keeps around the Imperial City, the player within that alliance with the most Alliance Points becomes emperor of the country, which grants even more bonuses for the alliance.
While it may seem like a lot of work to become emperor, Sage notes that the benefits are well worth the work, plus it gives players the ultimate bragging rights if they become ruler of the realm:
"Players who become Emperor will get a full skill line that they keep throughout the rest of their lives in The Elder Scrolls Online...It won't be easy to become Emperor, but we think people will be glad they worked for it," Sage explained.
If you want to become emperor without going through the player vs. player portion of The Elder Scrolls Online, then you're out of luck. The title can only be earned in this section of the game.
Even if you do not wish to become emperor of Cyrodiil in The Elder Scrolls Online, there will be plenty of other content to explore in the game. The Elder Scrolls Online will have many different regions to explore based on previous entries into the series. For example, players will be able to explore Morrowind and Skyrim, and developer Bethesda is doing the best it can to recreate these sections of the world so that they reflect the memories players will have of them.
