The second version of Google Glass is expected to be revealed soon after a patent of a possible version was recently given to Google by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
According to CNet, the patent of the device revealed that it would rest on one side of the face and would be tucked over an ear. The image for the said device was reportedly included in the patent called "Wearable Device with Input and Output Structures."
"The patent describes a device that could adjust to each user's head and recall that configuration for later use. The device would offer a heads-up display for playing video that could even be viewable in the other eye via a prism," described CNet.
In addition, The Verge said that the wearable technology will have input and output sources, adding that this will be a great change from the previous Google Glass which looked like thin metal glasses without lenses.
Digital Trends, on the other hand, said that the flexible band allows users to change the information displayed on the screens levelled to their eyes by tapping the input and output features.
The Verge also said that Google stopped the production and sales of the Glass this year but put focus on the company's wearable efforts through their Project Aura. This is believed to continue the development of similar devices like Google Glass.
Google is said to be working on three different prototypes for the device and that one of these will be a "sport" version, as per The Verge. Traditional-looking glasses are believed to be developed for enterprise customers.
In July this year, Daily Mail said the the anticipated Google Glass 2 will be be waterproof, more durable, and foldable.
The same report also said that the new addition for Google will not bear the name Google Glass 2.0 but will be tagged as the "Enterprise Edition."
In terms of appearance, the new Google Glass is expected to have a similar design as that of the Explorer Edition.
"It has been tweaked, though, and there are at least a few differences noticeable from the outside. It folds like a regular pair of glasses, and because it's first and foremost being built for the workplace, it has a more rugged build and appearance," explained 9t05google.
Daily Mail also noted that the head-mounted technology is now better to use underwater since there is less chance for the water to enter the inside of the device.
Along with this upgrade, the upcoming Google Glass will also look and feel "practical and industrial" according to 9t05google.
Other features believed to come with the device as per the same report are the following:
- A larger prism display for a better viewing experience
- An Intel Atom processor that brings better performance
- Moderately improved battery life
- Better heat management
