Selena Gomez, despite not having new music in a while, stayed in gossip columns, mostly about her weight issues, social life, and lately, her on-again-off-again romance with Justin Bieber that is apparently, well, on --again.

But the Biebs just put out a great new album (that's seriously turning more people into Beliebers), and Selena is not far behind. She too, put out new music, and her album, "Revival," is the "most authentic" one to date, as noted by Pop Crush.

She explained in an interview for Fusion, "I'm a lot more honest, when it comes to my music. I'm unapologetic about my work. Nothing I do is going to be perfect, but I think I'm able to understand that and as long as I have a healthy perspective on it, that's all that matters."

One thing you will notice about "Revival" though, is that it's far from her bubble-gum pop beginnings. In fact, as Times of India noted, it's more on the sexual side. Clearly, she's ready to grow up, and her fans better catch up.

She collaborated with Rock Mafia, Hit-Boy, and Star Gate for the production, and her second single, "Same Old Love," which sounded like a message for the Biebs, was been penned by Charli XCX. About the track, she said, "Everybody kind of goes through a cycle - whether it's friendship, a relationship, family. It's different for everyone but you have to understand what that is and why you're in it. It's just kind of got that angst in it. You can hear it, there isn't faking that, there isn't faking any of the emotions that I put on the record."

What really hits, however, is that of all the albums she already previously worked on, this is the first one that she executive produced and the one that she can really call hers, so everything about it is pure Selena.

She wrote six of the songs for the album and decided which tracks made it on the list and which ones didn't. She shared, "There were a lot of songs that they were probably not happy that I maybe didn't want. But that was the point."

She also chose the cover and the campaign for the album's publicity. She's the boss this time, but she's not arrogant about it. She shared, "I'm not like, full-on got it all figured out. But it is nice to kind of become a boss, and learn how to be that."
