Two suspects who have been linked to an attack on the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bamako, Mali, have been arrested.

According to Bloomberg Business, the two suspects are now detained in the Missabougou neighborhood in the city, said the officer in charge of public affairs at the presidency, Modibo Nama Traore.

The militants, linked to the al-Qaeda, have killed at least 20 people at the hotel, in one of its biggest attacks on international interests in the West African country. Mali investigators have already explained that they are searching for several people involved in the shooting who aided at least two gunmen who took 170 hostages in the hotel before killing 22 of them.

Among those killed are six Russians, three Chinese, and an American.

A spokesman for the ministry, Amadou Sangho, confirmed that two of the suspects have been arrested, although at this point, he refused to name them for the public. A source close to the investigation stated that the suspects have already been brought in for interrogation, based on the data found in one of the attacker's phones.

One of the suspects have been in contact with one of the gunmen since August, while the other sent telephone credit to an attacker. The source shared, "It's only after questioning that we will find out if the second suspect sells phone credit or is an accomplice."

Reuters said that the US Embassy in Bamako has already warned of the possibility of "further terrorist activity in the capital" and citizens have been advised to avoid public places like bars, restaurants, and shopping centers. Three extremists groups --- al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQMI), al Mourabitoun, and Massina Liberation Front have all claimed responsibility for the attack, although security analysts think all three have been collaborating.

French troops and the UN peacekeeping force (MINUSMA) are struggling to stabilize the former French colony, as strikes on both Malian and Western targets have now been spread out to areas beyond traditional military strongholds.

Deputy police commissioner for the MINUSMA said on Thursday that a team from the FBI has already arrived to help with the investigation regarding the terrorist attack.

Germany, meanwhile is also ready to send up to 650 soldiers to help the UN force, which is currently a few thousand men short to reaching its full strength of 12,680 men, although it's not clear how much help the additional troop could actually contribute in expanding the scope of the mission.
