The Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Collection has been released in Japan, and some new information about the game has been released including a new commercial for the games and new screenshots from the remade games as well.

It is being reported by IGN that the game is selling well in Japan, indicating that Square Enix may have struck gold by bringing these classic games to a new generation of fans. However, fans in the United States will have to wait until March 18 in order to play the HD remakes of Final Fantasy X and X-2.

In the meantime, Square Enix has released a very odd commercial in Japan for the collection that fans can attempt to figure out. The video consists of the main theme from the game playing over very emotional scenes such as couples being separated, children saying goodbye to fans, and even one woman throwing what appears to be her wedding ring into the ocean. The video is all in Japanese so the exact theme of the commercial is hard to discern, but it appears the video tries to connect the theme of loss in Final Fantasy X and X-2 with real life examples of people suffering from loss. In any case, the commercial is very memorable even for those who do not speak Japanese.

At the same time that Square Enix released this new commercial in Japan, on the game collection's official website Square Enix has released new screenshots from the games. These screenshots include several scenes of the game's battle system in action, as well as several summoned characters being shown in HD. Square Enix has also released screenshots from some of the more memorable cutscenes from the games such as Yuna's wedding to Seymour and the memorable scene of Yuna and Tidus sharing a moment in a natural pool. Finally, screenshots of Yuna, Rikku, and Paine from Final Fantasy X-2 have also been released. These screenshots show how the game has been remastered and how the graphics from the game have been given a serious overhaul by Square Enix.

Much like the very successful Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix collection, the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD collection seeks to remind older fans of the glory of previous Final Fantasy games as well as introduce the games to a new audience.
