The solo flick for DC's "Aquaman" is not due in theaters until 2018, but speculations on who the sea-based hero's main adversary is are already making waves all over the Internet.

According to Screen Rant, Jason Momoa's imposing portrayal of the usually maligned DC superhero is not taking any guff as it debuts in the film about the clash between two of the major Justice League heroes in "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice."

While his character may have been belittled in several memes, Momoa remained certain that his movie directed by "Furious 7" helmer, James Wan, would most definitely be cooler than the fish jokes the character has been subjected to.

"I can't see me busting out a bunch of jokes. I mean, I don't think it'll be like that," he told Screen Relish during the Fan Expo Canada in September.

Now, it seems that the actor's statement is gradually being taken seriously as rumors about the big baddie of the film surface.

According to entertainment news outlet JoBlo, the main conflict in "Aquaman" would revolve around sibling rivalry between the King of the Atlantis and his half-brother, the Ocean Master.

While he prefers to be known as Orm Marius, the Ocean Master is known to comic book fans as Aquaman's younger half-brother, Orm Curry, who vies for the throne in Atlantis.

Though some may be skeptical whether or not this would stick, Cinema Blend believes having sibling rivalry in the mix would be a good choice, considering how most of the film would take place in Atlantis.

"It's hard to say whether Ocean Master will remain the primary antagonist or if they might switch him out for someone like Black Manta in the near future. However, considering that much of the movie will likely take place in Atlantis, it makes sense for this sibling conflict to unfold on the big screen," the outlet explained.

In the comics, Orm and Arthur Curry (Aquaman's real name) are both sons of Atlanna, with two men - one Atlantian, and the other human.

Considering that Orm is full Atlantian and Arthus is half-human, it goes without saying that the younger sibling considers himself more worthy to rule the underwater city.

While he did rule Atlantis in the beginning -- upon the seemingly questionable death of their mother -- it was short-lived, as Arthur was deemed the rightful heir after he returned to the Lost City upon reaching adulthood.

Of course, Orm did not receive this decision very well and had decided to wage a war against his older brother.
