Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch did not play during his team's win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday because of an abdominal injury.

According to Seattle Times, Lynch was included in the questionable list last week due to the said injury but he was still able to play in their previous games where he was the starter in his position. It noted that the running back sustained his injury during practice last Thursday.

Meanwhile, Seattle general manager John Schneider noted that Lynch tried to make it to the game but just wasn't able to. He added that this has been considered as a "day-to-day" deal adding that his injury was an "abdominal strain. Been a weird thing for him."

ESPN said Lynch's absence did not affect the performance of his team who won a 29-13 victory versus the 49ers.

Running back Thomas Rawls was someone the team needs to thank for his contribution of their win. His efforts were recognized by coach Pete Carroll, who said that he really wanted to have a running back that "is physical and seeks out contact."

It was noted in the ESPN report that this player could indeed be Rawls since he was able to carry 30 times for 209 yards and caught three balls for 46 yards.

Especially with Lynch's absence, the team is reportedly seeking what it will happen with its running back position in the coming years.

"Lynch had missed one game in the previous five seasons combined. This year, he's missed three games and battled through neck, calf, hamstring and abdominal injuries," explained ESPN.

Despite this, Carroll expressed confidence that the team will still survive especially with the Rawls talent during the games.

"We still have a chance to be a good team. We've seen enough good play throughout the season to know that. It's the consistency that needs to come to the front," the Seahawks coach said in the Seattle Times report.

They have proven this on Sunday and are up for the next challenge which is the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday at CenturyLink Field, as per ESPN.

In setting expectations of fans for the upcoming game, Examiner said that the Steelers may have a great chance to win versus the Seahawks.

The same report explained that one of the secrets for a victory for the Steelers is protecting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. It added that through this game plan, receivers from the team will have enough time "to get open on routes against a Seattle."
